In recent years a downward trend in the number of authorised trust offices has been observed. At the end of 2011 there were 310 trust offices in the Netherlands, at the end of 2017 this was 222. Data from the Register trust offices shows that the number of trust offices in mid-October 2018 has declined further to 207. The number of trust offices continues to decline. An inventory of HQ in all its members shows that the number of services at risk of misuse of the financial and fiscal Stlsel in the Netherlands is relatively low. There is also a significant decrease in the total number of target companies operated by the trust offices. The overview below shows that the number of target companies decreased by 10% in the period June 2016 to December 2017.
In the past, DNB has also investigated the provision of services to limited companies (CVS) that are part of complex international structures. Trust offices have completed the service to CV-structures since 2013. On 30 June 2013, 75 trust offices provided services to 1,602 CVS, after which a decrease was made. At the end of 2017, the number of CVS to which services were granted fell to 521 CVS, to which 62 trust offices provided services.
